Weekend fun

This weekend we were able to meet up with family in Salt Lake City and Park City.
Saturday was my nephew John's baptism on the Smyth side. We got to spend a short time with my parents and some of my siblings.

After the baptism we drove to Park City to spend some time with Jeremy's parents.

It was such beautiful weather and it is a beautiful time of year in the mountains with the leaves changing colors.

We went to the Olympic museum and also watched some skiers using the summer jumps that end in a pool of water.

It was a quick weekend trip, but it was a great time.

Swimming at the Lake

We live ten minute from Dierkes Lake where the kids can go swimming. It is such a pretty setting with a large park area that has large trees and lots of grass. The opposite side of the lake has sage brush and rocks which makes the trees and grass all the more appreciated and welcoming.

There is a diving board that the boys had a good time jumping from. Lydia and Becca played at the shallow part, mostly digging in the sand and building in the sand.

Towards the end of our time there the boys thought it was fun to get out of the water, roll in the sand, lay all crusted on the bank and then jump in the water to wash off only to do it all again.

Fun at the county fair

We went to the Twin Falls county fair tonight. We forgot to bring the stroller, which was unfortunate, Matthew didn't mind being carried the whole time but our arms sure did.

The kids had a great time deciding which rides to use their tickets on. Charlie felt brave and went on the ride that goes all the way around so that you are upside down high in the air. His facial expressions and screams seemed to say that he didn't like it, yet he claims that he did. Although, he did say he will wait a couple years before he goes on it again.

We walked around to some of the exhibits and saw the bunnies, draft horses, 4H projects and a display of early models of motorized machinery.

We hadn't planned out what we needed to bring to the fair, like the stroller. We also didn't think about bringing jackets and our fair weather children got cold after the sun went down and had their arms pulled inside their t-shirts.

We ended the evening of fun eating "elephant fries" (large pile of curly fries) which were very tasty, then we drove home and in the twenty minute drive home all the children fell asleep.

First day back to work

Today is Jeremy's first day as a CRNA at Magic Valley. He has orientation and then observation. Tomorrow he will start for real.
This moment has been a long time in the making. Three years ago we moved to Florida and three months ago he graduated from the masters program.

Enjoying our time in Pine Valley

I love the mountains. I love the cool night air. Spending time together as a family is awesome.

Today is Pioneer Day. Jeremy and grandma and grandpa Taysom took the kids to the Pine Valley Pioneer Day breakfast. Matthew and I were sleepy heads and slept in until 9 am (I had a migraine last night and didn't sleep well).
The kids had a great time eating pancakes and playing pioneer type games. Matthew and I watched the Days of 47 parade on tv. The floats are quite impressive.

The kids spent the day with cousins, playing and going for a walk. Jeremy spent time helping his dad.

Tonight we went to a BBQ at Johnny and Linda's, along with half of Pine Valley, they have a lot of friends. It was such a beautiful evening, the weather was such a nice temperature today.

Sun Valley

We drove to Sun Valley, which is two hours away. There are no trees or mountains until you are right there. Sun valley town is touristy and looks awesome, but our true love was the quiet trails out of town where no people were around.

I am so happy to be back near forests and mountains to go hiking and camping and hopefully even go skiing.

New life

So, our time in Florida has come to a close and right now we are in between things. Currently we are in Utah staying with Jeremy's parents who live in the mountains and we are loving the beauty and cooler weather.

Yesterday we went boating with Brad at Gunlocks reservoir. It is so beautiful there. The kids enjoyed being pulled in the tube behind the boat and Charlie was able to get up on the knee board and he loved it.

Today Charlie and Tom have been helping Jeremy and grandpa do yard work-grandpa is putting in a waterfall feature.

Earlier Jeremy and I snuck away for a lunch date at the little restaurant in town, even leaving little Matthew with grandma and the rest of the kids. We rode on the four wheeler down the rode to the Brandin Iron for chicken salad (with homemade ranch, yum) and an ice cream cone at the new ice cream shop they just opened.

Last summer the kids and I spent the summer here with grandma and grandpa and we had such a lovely summer (Jeremy was doing clinicals in Davenport and Port st Joe in Florida). It is nice to have Jeremy with us this summer and enjoy this together as a family.
